Petri Räisänen Workshop
This workshop with Petri Räisänen is suitable for all yoga practitioners who wish to deepen their personal practice and learn about the connections of body, mind, the senses and energy itself.

We approach the more subtle layer of the body (energy body), beyond the physical, and work on releasing energy blocks, using the most natural tools available. Along with asanas from the Primary series we will also explore the Intermediate series, it’s vinyasa system and alignment. Some previous experience practicing ashtanga yoga is required to join the workshop. However, students do not need any previous energy-healing experience or special skills to join.
The workshop will take place in a sea view studio, walking distance from the beach and the UNESCO heritage site of Dubrovnik Old Town.
Mysore class – Early morning Ashtanga self practice 6:30am or 7:00am (TBC depending on batch size)
18-19:30 -The workshop opening discussion (Ashtanga views) and light pranayama with meditation.

1. Intermediate series practice techniques and adjustments in detail
Intermediate series positions are done to purify and strengthen the nervous system and energy channels throughout the body. In this module Petri will present the techniques which he learned from his Sri K. Pattabhi Jois during the Nadi Sodhana book project and in his personal studies. Petri will touch upon many aspects still unknown to practitioners, like the right alignments of the body, gazing points (drishtis) and vinyasa method.
Previous experience practicing the Intermediate Series is not a requirement to join in the fun. We will cover the poses in a way accessible to most practitioners.
2. Ashtanga Yoga and Nadi Sodhana (books) event
Petri and his wife Wambui (book translator) will talk about the Nadi Sodhana book project and tell stories about the interview sessions with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and R. Sharath Jois. Book signing. Tea and snacks at the shala!
3. Healing touch, energy healing techniques and asana adjustments
In this module Petri will draw on many different healing techniques, like bone setting, herbal healing, cupping and energy healing. He will present the nature of prana and how to use it for healing, as well as in asana adjustments. This is a workshop centered around energy (prana) and how it can be controlled, balanced and released. It is magic in the most natural way.
About Petri Räisänen
Petri Räisänen (born August 13, 1967) is an internationally known and respected Ashtanga Yoga teacher. Petri started practicing Ashtanga Yoga in 1989 and teaching in 1991. He is a devoted student of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, and was authorized to teach Astanga Yoga in 2001 by Guruji.
Petri is co-owner and director of Ashtanga Yoga Helsinki, one of the worldís largest Astanga Yoga Shalas, which he founded with his friend and colleague, Juva Javanainen, in 1997.
In his yogic path Petri has studied with many respected Astanga Yoga teachers such as Derek Ireland (his first certified teacher), Radha Warrel, Gwendoline Hunt, Lino Miele and Eddie Stern, in addition to R. Sharath Jois and Sri K. Pattabhi Jois.
Petri focuses on integrating healing and therapy with yoga, meeting studentís individual needs and guiding their progress. Petriís yoga pose adjustments are gentle, effective, therapeutic and, according to some, almost magical, and originate (besides his own practice and teaching) from his past work as a traditional Finnish folk healer and naturopath. His friendly, relaxed behaviour and intuivite perception give an open, energetic and meditative atmosphere to his classes.
From 1989-1991, Petri joined a Folk Healing program held by Raimo Holtti in Kauhajoki, Finland, where he learned many of the techniques mentioned above. Petri continued to study with Raimo until 1997.
It was Raimo Holtti who introduced Petri to Prana, the universal energy which we cannot see with the eyes but what we can move and feel with our mind and heart (or nadis ñ energy channels). Prana became something which was a natural part of Petri’s Yoga practice, teaching and healing work.
